About Grade 1 Writing
Grade 1 writing (1st grade, ages 6β7) is 40 lessons in 5 units: Getting Started with Writing (lessons 1β10), Expressing Ideas (lessons 11β18), Creative Writing (lessons 19β26), Functional Writing (lessons 27β34), and finally Project & Review (lessons 35β40), project work that brings the year together. Along the way, children learn to write sentences about activities using I like to with an action word, invent a made-up character, magical setting, and creative problem using imagination and write a title that tells the reader what the list is about.
