Mini Lesson

When you are asleep, your mind goes on adventures! Dreams are perfect for writing because anything can happen — flying, talking animals, magical places. And the best part? You are the main character.

Starter — In my dream …

  • Begin every sentence about your dream with "In my dream".
  • This tells the reader straight away that it is an imaginary experience.
  • Example: In my dream, I flew over a sparkling blue ocean.

What did you see?

  • Describe the most vivid thing you saw.
  • Use two describing words to paint the picture.
  • Example: In my dream, I saw a huge golden castle.

What did you do?

  • Tell the reader one exciting action from your dream.
  • Use a strong action word: flew, rode, jumped, swam, climbed, found.
  • Example: In my dream, I rode a giant white horse.

How did it feel?

  • End with how the dream made you feel.
  • Use "I felt" + a feeling word: happy, amazed, brave, free, excited.
  • Example: I felt brave and free when I woke up.
