Writing a Greeting Card

Mini Lesson
A greeting card is a special note you send to make someone feel happy — on a birthday, a holiday, or just because you care!
Part 1 — The Greeting
- Start with "Dear" and then the person’s name.
- Example: Dear Grandma,
- Always put a comma after the name.
Part 2 — The Message
- Write one or two kind sentences about how you feel.
- Example: I hope you have a wonderful birthday. You are very special to me.
- Start each sentence with a capital letter and end with a period.
Part 3 — The Sign-off
- End with a warm closing word, then a comma, then your name.
- Example: Love, Maya — or — Your friend, Sam
- The closing word always starts with a capital letter.

Ask yourself: "Did I write a greeting with a comma? Did I write a kind message? Did I add a sign-off?"
