About Grade 3 Technology

Grade 3 technology (3rd grade, ages 8–9) is 40 lessons in 5 units: Digital Tools and Productivity (lessons 1–8), Online Research and Safety (lessons 9–16), Digital Citizenship (lessons 17–24), Creating and Coding (lessons 25–32), and finally AI Literacy (lessons 33–40), project work that brings the year together. Along the way, children learn to explain why taking organized notes makes research easier, identify which types of personal information are safe to share online and identify the eight main block categories in Scratch and what each one does.

Start here: Lesson 1: Review: Computers, Keyboards, and File Management is free to open and print. Every other lesson has a free preview of its mini lesson and vocabulary.

Paper first: each lesson is printed before you call your child. You read it once and talk it through, your child does the exercises on paper, and you correct together with the Parent checklist β€” about 45 minutes at the table. The next day, a 10-minute screen review of the same lesson.
