About Grade 2 Writing
Grade 2 writing (2nd grade, ages 7β8) is 40 lessons in 5 units: Building Sentences and Paragraphs (lessons 1β8), Writing About Experiences (lessons 9β16), Creative Writing (lessons 17β24), Functional and Real-Life Writing (lessons 25β32), and finally Writing Projects (lessons 33β40), project work that brings the year together. Along the way, children learn to use the three-part description frame β My pet isβ¦ It hasβ¦ they likeβ¦ β to describe a pet or animal, add dialogue to a story using quotation marks around the exact spoken words and write a clear to-do list or shopping list with a title and items written in the correct order.
