About Grade 6 Math
Grade 6 math (6th grade, ages 11β12) is 40 lessons in 5 units: Unit 1 β Integers & Number Theory (lessons 1β8), Unit 2 β Ratios, Proportions & Percent (lessons 9β16), Unit 3 β Geometry & Measurement (lessons 17β24), Unit 4 β Statistics & Probability (lessons 25β32), and finally Unit 5 β Projects & Applications (lessons 33β40), project work that brings the year together. Along the way, children learn to define percent as a ratio that compares a part to one hundred, compute the area and perimeter of rectangles and squares with US customary (in, ft, yd) and metric (cm, m) units and compute the experimental probability of an event as favorable outcomes divided by total trials.
Start here: Lesson 1: Integers on the Number Line is free to open and print. Every other lesson has a free preview of its mini lesson and vocabulary.
Paper first: each lesson is printed before you call your child. You read it once and talk it through, your child does the exercises on paper, and you correct together with the Parent checklist β about 45 minutes at the table. The next day, a 10-minute screen review of the same lesson.
