About Grade 4 Writing
Grade 4 writing (4th grade, ages 9β10) is 40 lessons in 5 units: Unit 1 β Structure and Organization (lessons 1β8), Unit 2 β Personal Writing (lessons 9β16), Unit 3 β Research Writing (lessons 17β24), Unit 4 β Functional Writing (lessons 25β32), and finally Unit 5 β Projects and Review (lessons 33β40), project work that brings the year together. Along the way, children learn to punctuate dialogue correctly using speech marks, commas, and capital letters, identify different types of diagrams and their best use cases and identify the formatting conventions of a script or dialogue.
