✍️ WRITING (40 Lessons)🟡 C. Creative Writing

← Back to Level 1

Objective

I can write clear sentences about a special day, saying what happened and how I felt.

Materials

Mini-lesson — What makes a day special?

A special day is a day that feels a little different from other days.

It might be:

  • a birthday or family party,
  • a picnic in the park,
  • a visit to someone you care about,
  • or any day that felt extra happy for you.

When we write about a special day, we can tell:

  • What happened (events)
  • Who was there (people)
  • How we felt (feelings)

Example special day:

  • Start: My family set up a picnic at the park.
  • Middle: We played games, ate cake, and laughed.
  • End: I went home feeling tired but very happy.

Your special day can be real or made up. It should sound kind and safe.

Describing words like sunny, fun, or busy help your reader picture the day.

Guided Practice — Talking about a special day

Use this routine to warm up before you write about your special day.

  1. Think of a day: Choose a real day that felt special, or make up a happy special day.
  2. Say it aloud: Tell a trusted adult what made the day special and who was with you.
  3. Trace special words: On the Tracing Pad, choose words like special, party, or family and trace them neatly.
  4. Practice three sentences: Say one sentence about the start of the day, one about the middle, and one about the end.
  5. Add feelings: Say how you felt, using words like happy, excited, or proud.
  6. Check your sentences: Do they start with a capital letter and end with a period?

Your sentences should match the same special day, not three different days.
