← Back to Level 2

Objective

I can write a short recipe with a title, a clear ingredients list with simple amounts, and numbered steps that use action words like mix, stir, and bake.

Materials

Tip: Start steps with action verbs (mix, pour, heat). Use First, Next, Then, Finally for easy flow.

Mini-lesson — What belongs in a recipe?

  1. Title: Tells what you will make. Example: Banana Yogurt Cup.
  2. Ingredients: Short list with simple amounts (1 banana, 2 spoons yogurt).
  3. Steps (1–4): Numbered actions in order. Use mix, add, stir, serve.
  4. Safety: If heat is needed, add “Ask an adult for help.
  5. Clarity: One action per step. Keep sentences short.

Guided Practice — Trace on the Pad

Trace the action words, then draft a tiny recipe called Fruit & Yogurt Cup:

  • Action words: mix, add, stir, serve
  • Ingredients (example): 1 small banana, 2 spoons yogurt, 1 spoon oats
  • Steps (example):
    1. Slice banana in a bowl.
    2. Add yogurt and oats.
    3. Stir to mix.
    4. Serve and enjoy.
