← Back to Level 2

Objective

I can write a polite thank-you card that includes: a friendly greeting, a clear reason for thanks, one specific detail, a warm closing, and my signature.

Materials

Tip: Be specific. Instead of “Thanks for the gift,” try, “Thank you for the blue soccer ball. I practiced passes after school.”

Mini-lesson — Parts of a thank-you card

  1. Greeting: Dear Aunt Mia,
  2. Thanks + reason: Say “Thank you” and tell what you’re thankful for.
  3. Specific detail: Share how you used it or why it helped.
  4. Closing: Sincerely, or With thanks,
  5. Signature: Write your name neatly.

Example: Dear Coach Lee, Thank you for teaching me new dribbles at practice. I tried them in our game and felt more confident. Sincerely, Jordan

Guided Practice — Trace on the Pad

Plan your card to a teacher, coach, neighbor, or family member. Trace key words, then draft:

  • Key words: thank you, because, helped, practice, Sincerely
  • Structure:
    1. Greeting: Dear …,
    2. Thanks + reason
    3. One specific detail
    4. Closing + signature
