← Back to Level 2

Objective

I can write a short paragraph about my favorite sport or hobby with a topic sentence, 2–3 details (reasons/examples), and a closing sentence that sums up my opinion.

Materials

Tip: Brainstorm three reasons you enjoy the activity (fun, friends, fitness, creativity, relaxing).

Mini-lesson — Writing about a favorite activity

  1. Start with a clear topic: My favorite hobby is drawing comics.
  2. Add 2–3 details: reasons or examples that fit your topic.
  3. Use transitions: first, next, because, finally to guide the reader.
  4. End with a closing: wrap up your opinion or feeling.
  5. Stay on one topic: every sentence should connect to your sport/hobby.

Guided Practice — Trace on the Pad

Trace key words, then draft a 4‑sentence paragraph about your favorite sport or hobby:

  • Key words: topic, because, practice, finally
  • Example outline:
    1. Topic: My favorite hobby is drawing comics.
    2. Detail: I design heroes and funny stories.
    3. Detail: I practice shading to make pictures pop.
    4. Closing: Drawing makes me feel calm and creative.
