Lesson 10: Write About a Family Trip

✍️ WRITING (40 Lessons)🔵 B. Writing About Experiences

← Back to Level 2

Objective

I can write a short personal narrative about a family trip that has a clear beginning, middle, and end. I will include who went, where we went, what we did, when it happened, and how I felt.

Materials

Tip: Use time words like first, next, then, finally to keep your story in order.

Mini-lesson — How do I write about a trip?

  1. Begin with who + where: Last Saturday my family went to the lake.
  2. Tell events in order: Use time words: first, next, then, finally.
  3. Add details: What did you see, hear, or do? We rented a small boat and fed ducks.
  4. Include feelings: I felt nervous at first, then excited.
  5. Close the story: At the end we took a picture and went home tired and happy.

Guided Practice — Trace on the Pad

Trace key words, then draft a tiny story (4–5 sentences) about a family trip (beach, park, museum, zoo—your choice):

  • Key words: first, next, then, finally, together
  • Example outline:
    1. Beginning: Who went and where?
    2. Middle: 2–3 events in time order.
    3. End: How did it finish? How did you feel?
