Mini-lesson — Write your day in order
A great school-day paragraph is simple. The secret is:
use time words, say what happened, and
keep sentences clean.
Time words
- Use First, Next, Then, Last.
- Time words help your reader follow your day.
- They keep your writing in order.
Complete sentences
- Start with a capital letter.
- Say what you did: I read. I learned.
- End with a period.
Add one detail
- Details make it real: who, where, or what.
- Example: I played with friends.
- Keep it short and clear.
Make it easy to read
- One space between words.
- Words in the right order.
- Neat letters on the line.
Ask yourself:
"Did I use a time word? Did I start with a capital? Did I end with a period?"
