Objective

I can write about my favorite food using a clear sentence, describing words, and a simple because reason.

Materials

Mini-lesson — A clean food sentence

Strong writing can be simple. For a food paragraph, do three things: name it, describe it, and say why.

Name it clearly

  • Start with one clear sentence.
  • Example: My favorite food is pizza.
  • Start with a capital letter. End with a period.

Add describing words

  • Describing words help the reader imagine it.
  • Try two words: hot, sweet, crunchy, cheesy.
  • Example: It is hot and cheesy.

Say why

  • Use because to give a reason.
  • Keep it simple: because it tastes good.
  • End with a period.

Keep it neat

  • Leave spaces between words.
  • Keep letters sitting on the line.
  • Slow writing looks cleaner.

Ask yourself: "Did I use describing words? Did I use because? Did I end with a period?"
