You will make a simple flag idea. It can be a real flag you know or an invented one with colors and shapes.

  1. Draw a rectangle for the flag shape.
  2. Add colors you like.
  3. Add one shape like a star, leaf, sun, or heart.
  4. Write or trace one short word near it, such as "flag", "color", "shape", or "home".
  5. Under your drawing, write or trace: "This flag is a symbol."
  6. Share your flag idea with an adult using kind words. Do not say which flag is best.

Practice — Look and describe a flag

This activity helps you see and talk kindly about flags. You do not compare or judge any flag.

  1. An adult shows or describes a flag (real or invented).
  2. Name what you see using short words like "color", "shape", "star", "leaf", or "mark".
  3. Say:
    "This flag is a symbol."
    or
    "This flag stands for a group."
  4. Talk with the adult about how flags can show unity, nature, history, or hope.
  5. Do not say which flag is "best". We respect all flags.
