Grade 6 · Reading · Lesson 22

Paraphrase and quote accurately

When you write about what you have read, you have two powerful tools: quoting and paraphrasing. A direct quote copies the author\u2019s exact words and places them inside quotation marks. A paraphrase rewrites the author\u2019s idea entirely in your own words, keeping the meaning but changing the language. Both tools help you use evidence without committing plagiarism.
