Grade 6 · Reading · Lesson 14

Compare two texts on a similar theme

When two texts share a similar theme, they are asking the same deep question of the world — but answering it in very different ways. The theme might be: what does it mean to belong? Can a person overcome isolation? What is the cost of ambition? Two writers exploring the same question will make different choices about who tells the story, where it is set, what conflicts arise, and how it ends. Comparing those choices reveals the real meaning each author is building.
