Grade 6 · Reading · Lesson 11

Compare narrators’ point of view

Every story is told by a narrator, and the narrator’s point of view determines what information the reader receives. Two stories about the same event can feel completely different depending on who is telling them — and how much that narrator is allowed to know. In Grade 6 literature you will encounter three key types: first-person, third-person limited, and third-person omniscient. Recognizing each type helps you read more critically and understand why an author made the choice they did.
