Write Announcements or Newsletters

An announcement is writing with a job to do: inform a specific audience about a specific event and make sure they understand why they should care. A school newsletter, a community notice, a class email — all of these are announcements. The difference between a good announcement and a bad one is whether the reader finishes it knowing exactly what they need to know.

What this lesson teaches

3Draft a factual headline that names the event and gives the topic at a glance
4Give exact date, time, and location in the when and where section so a reader could attend without asking
5Explain why the event matters so information turns into meaning for the audience
