Objective

I can invent an adventure story with a clear character, setting, problem, and exciting events.

Materials

Mini-lesson — Every adventure needs a path

An adventure story takes a character on a journey. It feels exciting because something important happens and the character must keep going.

Adventure stories often include

  • A brave character with a goal
  • An interesting setting such as a jungle, mountain, or hidden cave
  • A problem that makes the trip difficult
  • A solution that helps the character finish the adventure

Example

  • Character: Maya the map reader
  • Setting: a stormy island
  • Problem: the bridge breaks
  • Solution: Maya finds another safe path
