Objective

I can write about a season or weather change using describing words and clear, complete sentences.

Materials

Mini-lesson — Describe seasons like a movie

Seasons and weather changes are fun to write about because you can help the reader see, hear, and feel what is happening.

Use 3 quick “sense” questions

  • What do I see? (dark clouds, bright sun, colorful leaves)
  • What do I hear? (wind whooshing, rain tapping, thunder rumbling)
  • What do I feel? (cold air, warm sun, sticky heat)

Try strong describing words

  • cold, warm, sunny, windy, rainy, snowy
  • bright, gray, slippery, noisy, quiet

Quick check: "Did I add at least two describing words?"

Guided Practice — Write clear season sentences
