← Back to Level 2 Writing

How to use: Print first for the main practice. Then use the device to repeat activities and save progress.

Objective

I can write about a weekend activity using who, what, where, and how I felt.

Materials

Mini-lesson — Tell what happened

When you write about your weekend, you are writing about a real experience. Your reader should understand what you did and how it felt.

Use the 4-detail plan

  • Who was with you?
  • What did you do?
  • Where did it happen?
  • How did you feel?

Make it smooth

  • Use time words: First, Next, Then, Finally
  • Add one strong detail: what you saw, heard, or did
  • End with a closing sentence

Quick check: "Could someone picture it in their mind?"

Guided Practice — Plan 3 sentences

Choose 3 sentences from the Trace menu and copy them neatly on paper. Then use the Tracing Pad to practice weekend words and punctuation.

Drag & Drop — Build each weekend paragraph

Drag the best sentences into order: when/what, who/where, detail, feeling or closing.

On Saturday I visited the zoo. I went with my dad. We saw tall giraffes and loud seals. I felt excited all day. My pencil was under the bed. The moon was made of cheese.
On Sunday I played soccer. I was with my friends at the field. We ran fast and kicked the ball hard. I felt proud after the game. My sandwich had extra cheese. A snowman wore green boots.
This weekend I baked cookies. I was in the kitchen with my mom. We mixed the dough and smelled warm chocolate. I felt happy when we shared them. The cactus jumped over the fence. My ruler was bright purple.
On Saturday I went to the beach. I was there with my family. We splashed in the water and built a sandcastle. I felt calm and cheerful. The classroom door was open. A dragon sat on the bus.
Yesterday I rode my bike in the park. My brother came with me. We raced down the path and rang our bells. It was my favorite part of the weekend. The eraser hid in my shoe. Winter pancakes can fly.
On Sunday I helped in the garden. I worked outside with my grandma. We planted flowers and watered the soil. I felt useful and proud. My backpack ate a cookie. The clock sang a song.
