Mini Lesson

Think about building a puzzle with a friend. If you each grab pieces, listen to each other, and take turns — you finish faster and it feels great! That is what teamwork looks like.

What is teamwork?

  • Teamwork means working together toward a shared goal.
  • Example: building a model, doing a group project, playing a team sport.
  • Good teams share the work fairly so everyone contributes.

Helpful team behaviors

  • Listen when others are speaking — everyone’s idea matters.
  • Take turns — do not try to do everything yourself.
  • Share materials and information with your teammates.
  • Encourage teammates when they are struggling.

Not helpful in a team

  • Talking over others or ignoring their ideas.
  • Refusing to share or doing all the work alone without asking.
  • Giving up or distracting teammates.
