Lesson 33: Edit a Partner’s Story Kindly
✍️ WRITING (40 Lessons) • 🟠 E. Writing Projects
Objective
I can give kind, helpful feedback on a partner’s story using Two Stars and a Wish, and check for capitals, punctuation, spelling, and clear ideas.
Materials
- Pencil ✏️ and eraser
- Partner’s story (short paragraph)
- Tracing Pad (below)
Kind editors help, they don’t judge. We notice what’s working and give one small, doable suggestion.
Mini-lesson — Be a Kind Editor
- Two Stars and a Wish: Give 2 positive notes (🌟🌟) and 1 wish (✨ “I wish you…”) to improve.
- Use kind stems: “I noticed…”, “I liked…”, “Maybe add…”, “Could you clarify…?”.
- Check the basics: Capitals (start of sentences, I, names), punctuation (., !, ?), spelling, and clear ideas.
- Stay on topic: Suggestions should match the story’s main idea.
- Be specific: Point to a word or sentence, not the whole piece.
Video won’t be included when printing.
Guided Practice — Trace and Plan Your Feedback
Trace these feedback stems and then write your own short notes for a partner:
- Star 1: “I noticed your beginning hook is…”
- Star 2: “I liked how you used _____ because…”
- Wish: “I wish you could add a sentence about…”
Tip: After giving feedback, read the story aloud and check capitals, punctuation, and spelling together.
