How to use: Print first for the main practice. Then use the device to repeat activities and save progress.

Objective

I can write a simple email with adult help by using a greeting, a short message, and a polite closing.

Materials

Mini-lesson — Emails are messages you send on a screen

An email is a message you send to an adult (like a teacher) or a family member. With adult help, you can write it polite and clear.

Every simple email has 3 parts

  • Greeting: “Hi Ms. Lee,”
  • Message: one or two short sentences
  • Closing: “Thank you,” and your name

Keep it polite

  • Use please when you ask.
  • Use thank you when you finish.
  • Keep your message short and kind.

Make it easy to read

  • Start sentences with a capital letter.
  • End sentences with a period.
  • Use a comma after the greeting.

Adult help is for the address and sending. Your job is clear words and polite writing.

Guided Practice — Practice email words

Choose 3 sentences from the Trace menu and copy them neatly on paper. Then use the Tracing Pad to practice words, sentences, and marks.

Drag & Drop — Build simple emails

Each set has five lines from one email: From, To, Subject, Message, and a Closing. Drag the lines into the best order to build a neat email.

From: Mia To: Grandma Rose Subject: Thank you for the gift Message: I loved the book you sent me. I read it last night before bed. Closing: Love, Mia.
From: Leo To: Ms. Carter Subject: I was absent today Message: I stayed home today because I was not feeling well. Thank you for understanding. Closing: Thank you, Leo.
From: Ava To: Emma Subject: My birthday party Message: I am having a small birthday party on Saturday at 3:00. I hope you can come and play games with me. Closing: Your friend, Ava.
From: Noah To: Dad Subject: I got a gold star Message: Today I worked hard in class and my teacher gave me a gold star on my paper. I wanted to tell you the good news. Closing: Love, Noah.
From: Sofia To: Mrs. Green Subject: Thank you for the books Message: Thank you for helping me find new chapter books at the library. I am excited to read them this week. Closing: Sincerely, Sofia.
