Mini Lesson

Your school is a busy community — and it takes many different people working together to keep it running every single day!

Who works at a school?

  • A school has many workers, each with a special role — a job they are responsible for doing.
  • Example: A teacher is a school worker whose role is to help children learn new skills and knowledge in the classroom.
  • Every worker's role is important — when one person is missing, the whole school feels it.

School workers and their roles

  • Teacher — teaches lessons and helps students learn.
  • Principal — leads and manages the whole school.
  • School nurse — looks after students who feel sick or get hurt.
  • Librarian — helps students find and borrow books.
  • Custodian — keeps the school clean and safe.
  • School cook — prepares healthy meals for students.

How do they help the school community?

  • Each worker helps students in a different way — learning, health, cleanliness, or food.
  • Together they create a safe, clean, and welcoming place to learn.
