Mini Lesson

Every member of a family can do their part to keep the home running smoothly — even you!

What does it mean to help at home?

  • Helping at home means doing actions that make things easier or better for your family.
  • Example: Setting the table before dinner is a helpful action because it gets the meal ready for everyone.
  • When everyone helps, no one person has to do all the work.

Ways a child can help

  • Put your toys and belongings away after using them.
  • Help set or clear the table at mealtimes.
  • Feed a pet or water a plant.
  • Carry your plate to the sink after eating.
  • Keep your bedroom tidy.

Why does helping matter?

  • Helping shows that you care about your family.
  • It makes the home a nicer place for everyone.
  • Doing your part teaches you responsibility — learning to look after things and people around you.
