🟡 SOCIAL STUDIES (40 Lessons)🟢 A. About Me and My Family

← Back to Level 1

Objective

I can name some things we do together in my family and talk about why together time is important.

Materials

Mini-lesson — Things we do together

Families do many things together. Shared time can be big or small. It can be at home or outside.

Examples of things we do together

  • Talk at the table or in the living room.
  • Play a game, draw, or build blocks.
  • Walk to the park or to the shop.
  • Read a story together.
  • Eat a snack or meal at the same time.

How together time feels

  • Helps people feel close.
  • Can help us feel more safe.
  • Can make happy memories.

Short "we" sentences

  • "We play."
  • "We read."
  • "We talk."
  • "We walk."

Not every family has the same time or the same activities. We respect different routines and traditions.

Guided Practice — Our together time chart

You will make a small "together time" chart to show things you do with your family.

  1. Draw a big rectangle and divide it into three boxes.
  2. At the top, write: "Things we do together".
  3. In the first box, draw and label one thing you do together, such as "We play."
  4. In the second box, draw and label another activity, such as "We read." or "We talk."
  5. In the third box, draw and label a quiet time together, such as "We walk." or "We eat."
  6. Practise reading your chart aloud to an adult using full sentences, like "We play at home."

Practice — Tell about one together time

Use your chart to tell about one special time you had with your family.

  1. Choose one picture from your chart that feels special to you.
  2. Tell an adult: "One thing we do together is _____ ."
  3. Add more detail: where you were, who was there, and how you felt.
  4. Say one sentence about why you like that time, such as "It makes me feel happy."
  5. Draw a small heart or star next to that box on your chart.
