Grade 6 · Writing · Lesson 26

Write an editorial on a community issue

An editorial is a special type of opinion writing published in a newspaper, magazine, or news website. Unlike a news report, which aims to be neutral and factual, an editorial takes a clear position on a community issue and tries to persuade readers to agree with that position. Editorials appear on the "opinion" or "editorial" page and are written by editors, journalists, or community members.
