Use dictionaries and corpora effectively

A dictionary is more than a list of meanings. Each entry is a carefully structured record that gives you multiple types of information about a word. Skilled readers know how to navigate an entry quickly — jumping to the etymology when they need a meaning clue, or checking the usage note when they are unsure whether a word fits a formal context.
