Grade 5 · Writing · Lesson 31

Design a persuasive poster or ad

A PERSUASIVE POSTER (or AD) is a single page designed to make a viewer DO something — buy, donate, vote, sign up, show up, change their mind. You only have a few seconds of the viewer\u2019s attention, so every choice has to earn its place. Strong posters share the same SIX SLOTS: a HEADLINE, a MAIN IMAGE, a SHORT MESSAGE, a CALL TO ACTION, CONTACT INFO, and a LOGO or CREDIT. Miss a slot and the poster feels half-finished; cram extras in and the viewer gives up before they read a word.
