Plan Multi-Paragraph Essays with Clear Introductions

A strong essay is built on a plan, not on luck. Before you write a single sentence, decide what you want to say and how you will lead the reader through it. The most common shape is the five-part essay: an introduction, three body paragraphs, and a conclusion. The introduction does the most work — it pulls readers in, gives them context, and tells them exactly what you will prove.
