Publish & Present Your Work

Finishing a piece is more than typing the last word. To publish means to share your work with real people — friends, families, or a wider community. Presenting means delivering it out loud or on screen so the audience can follow it. Both steps need a checklist, an audience, and a plan.

The Publish-Ready Checklist

Before any piece leaves your hands, run through five quick checks. Skipping a step is how typos, missing credits, and confused readers happen.

1. Title check — does the title fit the piece and grab attention?
2. Spelling check — read it aloud and use a spell-checker too.
3. Citations attached — list every source you used, even pictures.
4. Audience identified — who exactly is this for?
5. Sharing plan — where and how will you publish it?

Audience and Venue

Audience is WHO will read or watch your work. Venue is WHERE you will share it. The same piece can land very differently depending on both.

• Audience: friends, younger kids, families, or a wider community.
• Venue: a family blog, a printed booklet, a community event, or a video upload.
• Match the message — formal venues need a formal tone; casual venues allow a friendlier one.
• Privacy first — a public venue means anyone can see it, so check with an adult.

Presenting: Plan, Practice, Present, Reflect

A strong presentation moves through four steps. Skipping practice is the most common mistake — and it shows.

1. Plan — outline the key points and the order you will deliver them.
2. Practice — rehearse out loud at least twice; time yourself.
3. Present — speak clearly, look at the audience, and breathe.
4. Reflect — ask for feedback and note what to improve next time.
