Perform plays or scripts expressively

A script is not a story you read silently — it is a plan you PERFORM. Every line on the page is meant to be heard, and the actor decides exactly HOW to say it. A skilled performer reads the character name, follows the stage direction, then delivers the line with a cue that matches the meaning. Same words, completely different scene, depending on the cue you choose.
