Encouraging Others

Encouragement is the act of giving someone the confidence, courage, or hope to keep going — especially when they are struggling, doubting themselves, or facing something difficult. A single well-chosen word of encouragement at the right moment can change how a person feels about a challenge entirely.

What this lesson teaches

1Define encouragement and explain why specific encouragement is more powerful than general praise
2Produce a three-part encouragement sentence — name a strength, express belief, urge them to keep going
3Identify unhelpful encouragement such as minimizing, false certainty, or comparing to others
