Behind every book you love is an author with a story of their own. A "My Favorite Author" showcase is your chance to explore that story — to find out who wrote your favorite books, how they developed their style, and why their writing connects with readers like you.

Choosing Your Author

  • Choose an author whose books you have genuinely read and enjoyed — authenticity matters.
  • Consider authors whose work spans a series, so you can compare books.
  • Think about why YOU connect with this author — humor, adventure, relatable characters, beautiful descriptions?

What to Research

  • Biography — where the author grew up, their education, and what inspired them to write.
  • Writing style — do they use short punchy sentences or long flowing ones? Humor? Rich descriptions?
  • Themes — what ideas or messages appear across their books?
  • Most popular books — titles, brief summaries, and why readers love them.
  • Awards or recognition — has the author won any prizes or been celebrated?

Presenting Your Showcase

  • Use a poster, display board, or digital presentation to share your research.
  • Include visuals: a photo of the author, book covers, or a favorite quote.
  • Practice speaking about your author — do not just read from your notes.
  • End with a personal recommendation: "I think you should read this author because..."
