Lesson 35: Write About Protecting Nature

✍️ WRITING (40 Lessons)🟠 E. Writing Projects

← Back to Level 3

Objective

I can plan and write a short project piece that encourages people to protect nature, using a clear main idea, strong reasons with simple facts, and a call to action (what readers can do today).

Materials

Tip: Think about the 3 Rs (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle), saving water, planting trees, or keeping habitats clean.

Mini-lesson — How to persuade others to protect nature

  1. Main idea: State the problem and your stance. Example: “We must protect our parks from litter.”
  2. Reasons + simple facts: Explain why it matters (animals, water, air, health). Add small facts or examples.
  3. Clear solutions: Show what kids/families can do now (bring a reusable bottle, join a clean-up, sort recycling).
  4. Call to action: End by inviting the reader to act today.
  5. Voice: Use friendly but confident words; transitions like first, next, also, finally help flow.

Guided Practice — Trace key words & plan

Trace these key words, then sketch a short outline for your piece:

  • Key words: protect, habitat, litter, reuse, recycle, action
  • Organizer:
    1. Problem: Litter hurts animals in our park.
    2. Why: Animals can get sick; the park looks ugly.
    3. Do: Bring a trash bag, use a reusable bottle, sort recycling.
    4. Call: “Join us this weekend!”
