✍️ WRITING (40 Lessons)🟠 B. Personal Narratives

← Back to Level 3

Objective

I can write a short paragraph (5–6 sentences) about a person who inspires me, using a clear topic sentence, 2–3 reasons with specific examples, and a closing sentence that explains the impact on me.

Materials

Tip: Choose a real person (family member, teacher, coach, author, inventor). Think of what they did and how it changed you.

Mini-lesson — Who, Why, Examples, Impact

  1. Who: Name the person and your connection (my aunt, my coach, a scientist I read about).
  2. Why: State 2–3 reasons they inspire you (hard-working, kind, brave, creative).
  3. Examples: Add actions and small details that show each reason.
  4. Impact: End with how this person changes your choices or mindset.
  5. Stay focused: Keep every sentence connected to your main reason(s).

Guided Practice — Trace & plan

Trace key words, then plan a paragraph about a person who inspires you:

  • Key words: who, why, example, because, shows, impact
  • Example outline:
    1. Topic: My coach inspires me because she never gives up on us.
    2. Reason + example: She practices with us in the rain and cheers for small improvements.
    3. Reason + example: She teaches us to set goals and track steps each week.
    4. Impact: I work harder in class and try again when I get stuck.
    5. Closing: She inspires me to be determined and kind.
