I can write about an invention idea by naming it, telling what it does, and explaining how it helps.

Materials

Mini-lesson — A good invention solves a problem

An invention is something new that helps people do something better, faster, safer, or easier.

When you write about an invention idea, include 3 parts

  • Name it: What is your invention called?
  • Tell what it does: What happens when someone uses it?
  • Tell how it helps: Why is it useful?

Example

  • Name: The Homework Helper Robot
  • What it does: It holds pencils and reads directions aloud.
  • How it helps: It helps kids stay organized and focused.
