Objective

I can describe a pet or animal friend using strong details and adjectives.

Materials

Mini-lesson — Make your reader “see” the animal

Good description helps your reader picture the animal in their mind. You can describe a pet or an animal friend you like.

Use 3 kinds of details

  • Looks: color, size, fur, feathers, scales
  • Actions: what it does (runs, hops, swims)
  • Personality: how it acts (gentle, silly, brave)

Add adjectives (describing words)

  • soft, fluffy, tiny, quick, friendly, loud, quiet

Quick check: "Did I use details that match my animal?"

Guided Practice — Write 3 strong description sentences
