Understand Rules and Safety
How to use: Download the PDF to print the worksheet. Then use this page to repeat activities and check answers.
Learning Objectives
- 1Identify rules we follow in the community
- 2Explain why rules keep us safe
Mini Lesson
Imagine a soccer game with no rules β everyone would push, grab the ball, and no one would know who won! Rules make life fair and safe for everyone.
What is a rule?
- A rule is an agreed statement about what we should or should not do.
- Rules keep people safe, treat people fairly, and help things run smoothly.
- Example: "Stop at a red light" keeps drivers and walkers safe.
Rules at home, school, and in the community
- Home rules: Clean up after yourself, be kind to family members.
- School rules: Raise your hand before speaking, walk in the hallways.
- Community rules: Obey traffic lights, do not litter, respect others' property.
Why do we follow rules?
- Rules protect us from getting hurt.
- Rules make sure everyone is treated fairly.
- When people follow rules, communities feel safe and happy.
What happens without rules?
- Without rules, people could get hurt or treated unfairly.
- Community helpers like police officers help make sure rules are followed.
Ask yourself: "Does this keep someone safe or treat people fairly? Then it is probably a rule we should follow!"
Guided Practice
