How to use: Print first for the main practice. Then use the device to repeat activities and save progress.

Objective

I can write letters neatly by starting in the right place, using smooth strokes, and keeping my letters sitting on the line.

Materials

Mini-lesson — Neat letters on the lines

Neat letters look calm and clean. The secret is simple: start in the right place, move smoothly, and land on the line.

Start points

  • Some letters start at the top line.
  • Some letters start at the middle line.
  • Starting in the same place makes letters match.

Smooth strokes

  • Go slow enough to stay in control.
  • Use light pressure so lines stay smooth.
  • One smooth stroke looks better than many scratchy strokes.

Sit on the line

  • Most letters sit on the baseline (the bottom line).
  • If a letter floats, it looks messy.
  • If it drops too low, it bumps the next line.

Same size in a word

  • Keep small letters in the small space.
  • Keep tall letters tall — but not extra tall.
  • Matching sizes makes words look clean.

Ask yourself: "Did I start in the right place? Did I stay smooth? Did my letters sit on the line?"
