Mini Lesson

This is it — the very last lesson of Grade 1 Technology! Today you are going to do what every real inventor does at the end of their project: stand up and present your invention idea to an audience.

What a great oral presentation sounds like

  • Start with a confident greeting: "Hello! My name is ___ and today I will present my invention."
  • State your invention's name and what it does in one sentence.
  • Explain the problem it solves and who it helps.
  • Describe how it works — including any smart or AI features.
  • End with: "Thank you for listening. Do you have any questions?"

Presentation skills to practice

  • Hold your visual up clearly so the audience can see it.
  • Point to each part of your drawing as you describe it.
  • Speak slowly and loudly enough for everyone to hear.
  • Look at your audience as much as you can — not just at the paper.
  • Be proud — you have worked hard and your idea matters!
