Smart tools are powerful — and with great power comes great responsibility! You have already learned to use technology kindly and safely. Those exact same values apply to AI tools too.

Rule 1 — Use AI for helpful purposes

  • AI tools should be used to help, learn, create, and solve problems.
  • Example: Using an AI tool to get ideas for a story — kind and helpful ✅
  • Using an AI tool to write mean messages about someone — unkind and wrong ✗

Rule 2 — Be honest about AI help

  • If an AI tool helped you with your work, say so — do not pretend you did everything yourself.
  • Using an AI tool to do all your practice and pretending it is your own is called cheating.
  • Your own thinking, effort, and creativity are what matter most — AI can help, not replace your work.

Rule 3 — Humans are responsible

  • Whatever an AI tool produces, the human who used it is responsible for what happens next.
  • If you use an AI tool to do something unkind, saying "the tool did it" is not a good excuse.
  • Always think: "Is what I am about to do with this tool kind, honest, and safe?"

A helpful test

  • Before using a smart tool, ask yourself three questions: Is this kind? Is this honest? Is this safe?
  • If the answer to all three is yes — go ahead. If any answer is no — stop and think again.
