Mini Lesson

Technology helps us in every place we go! At home it keeps us warm, entertained, and connected. At the library it helps us learn, create, and share ideas. Let's explore both!

Technology at home

  • A smart TV streams shows and movies for the whole family.
  • A microwave heats food quickly and safely in the kitchen.
  • A smart speaker plays music, sets alarms, and answers questions.
  • A tablet lets family members video-call friends and relatives.

Technology at the library

  • A self-checkout machine lets you scan a library book and borrow it yourself.
  • A library computer or Chromebook helps people research and write.
  • A document camera magnifies a book or worksheet for the whole group to see.
  • A printer copies worksheets and projects so every person has one.

Some technology helps in both places!

  • A tablet or laptop can be used at home for video calls and at the library for learning apps.
  • For this lesson, think about where a device is most commonly used.
