📘
Mini Lesson
You have learned so much about communities this year! Now it is time to put it all together — by making a community poster about the place you live.
What goes on a community poster?
- People: helpers in your community — teachers, firefighters, doctors, neighbors.
- Places: important buildings and locations — school, library, park, market, place of worship.
- Values: the things your community cares about — kindness, respect, cooperation, honesty.
- Your name and city: every poster starts with "My Community: ___."
How to make your poster
- Use a large sheet of paper or poster board.
- Draw at least three places in your community and label each one.
- Draw at least two community helpers and write what they do.
- Write one sentence about a value your community lives by.
- Decorate with colors that represent your community.
Why does this matter?
- A community poster shows pride in where you live.
- It helps you think about who contributes to making your neighborhood a good place.
- Sharing your poster teaches others about your community.
💡
Ask yourself: "What three things would I most want to show someone about my community?
