Mini Lesson

We only have one Earth — and every person on every continent shares it. That means looking after the planet is something we all do together!

Why does the Earth need our care?

  • The Earth gives us clean air, fresh water, food, and land to live on — without these we cannot survive.
  • When people pollute the air, water, or land, they damage resources that everyone depends on.
  • Example: Dropping litter in a river hurts the fish, the water supply, and every community that relies on that river.

Actions that help the Earth

  • Reduce — use less water, electricity, and packaging.
  • Reuse — use items again instead of throwing them away.
  • Recycle — sort paper, glass, and plastic so they can be made into new things.
  • Plant trees, pick up litter, and turn off lights when leaving a room.

Actions that hurt the Earth

  • Dropping litter on the ground or in water.
  • Leaving taps running and wasting water.
  • Burning or cutting down forests carelessly.
  • Throwing recyclable items in the trash.

Every action counts

  • Even a 6-year-old can make a difference — turning off a tap, picking up a piece of litter, or planting a seed are all real contributions.
  • When people in every country do their small part, the combined effect is enormous.
