Math Fair Day

You did it! You have completed all 40 lessons of Grade 1 Math. Today is Math Fair Day — a chance to show the people you love everything you have learned, and to celebrate how far you have come!

What is a Math Fair?

• A Math Fair is like a science fair — but for math!
• You choose one topic you loved this year and present it to your audience (family members, a friend, or a stuffed animal!).
• You explain the idea in your own words and demonstrate it using drawings, coins, shapes, or anything you like.

How to prepare your presentation

1. Choose your topic — pick the math idea or unit that excited you most.
2. Make a display — draw a poster, a shape picture, a tally chart, or a shop poster from your worksheets.
3. Write three sentences to say out loud: what the topic is, one interesting fact you learned, and why you liked it.
4. Demonstrate live — show one skill: count coins, solve a word problem, name shapes, or extend a pattern.

What you have achieved this year

• You can count to 100 and understand place value.
• You know addition and subtraction facts and fact families.
• You can name 2D and 3D shapes and compare measurements.
• You can read tally charts, bar graphs, identify coins, count money, and make change.
• You can solve word problems, find missing numbers, and spot patterns in nature.
