Mini Lesson

Publishing means sending your work out to an audience — a family blog, a club site, a video channel, or a printed booklet. Once a piece of work is published online, copies can spread quickly and be hard to take back. Publishing responsibly means choosing what to share, what to keep private, and giving credit where it is due before you click the post button.

The Three-Question Publish Test

  1. Is it safe? — would the post reveal where I live, study, or can be found?
  2. Is it kind? — does the post respect the people, places, and ideas it shows?
  3. Is it honest? — have I credited every photo, quote, and idea that is not mine?

Risk Levels of Personal Details

  • High risk — full home address, phone number, password, parent banking info, exact location tag.
  • Medium risk — town name and club team, group photo with friends, neighborhood landmark, daily schedule.
  • Low risk — a first name only, general feelings about a project, creative artwork without a face, the topic you studied.

Publish Checklist

  1. Remove personal info — full name, address, phone, location tag, team logo on a uniform.
  2. Credit your sources — link photos, quotes, and ideas to the people who made them.
  3. Spell-check and read aloud once — fix typos and unclear sentences.
  4. Ask an adult or partner for a final review before you publish.

A short note that names the person whose photo, quote, or idea you used.
