Digital reputation and safety

Every time you post, comment, like, share or send, you leave a mark online. Those marks add up into something called your digital footprint — the trail of data that tells the internet who you are. Unlike footprints in sand, digital footprints do not wash away. A photo posted in Grade 6 can still be searched up when you apply for high school, a sports team, a job, or a scholarship years later. Your digital reputation is just the story those footprints tell about you.
